Accessibility statement for Equal Health Oxon

This website is run by Oxfordshire County Council. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings
  • zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using a keyboard or speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

Oxfordshire County Council is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status

The website has been tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard.

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

The cookie banner does not trap focus, so people using a keyboard to navigate may end up navigating content they cannot see. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.4.11 (Focus Not Obscured)

The cookie banner contains text which is low contrast. Additionally some of the interactive elements are very low contrast. This may make it difficult for people with vision impairments to perceive the information. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criteria 1.4.3 Minimum Contrast and 1.4.11 Non-text Contrast.

Some links do not have visible focus indicators, which makes it difficult for people using a keyboard to navigate the site. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.4.7 Focus Visible.

The videos open in a modal which has a number of issues for keyboard and screen reader users - including it is difficult to interact with the video controls with a keyboard. The video autoplays when you open it and it is not possible to pause it. When closing the modal focus moves to the top of the page. These are fails of WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.1.1 Keyboard .

Some of the video’s interactive controls are low contrast, failing WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.4.11 Non-text Contrast.
